It finally happened – Threat.Meet.Protocol have grown up. With their new EP, Where Did You Put My Marbles, the dick jokes have disappeared… but the carnival atmosphere from the group still carries on.
Painstakingly recorded, produced and engineered by Threat.Meet.Protocol drummer Evan Pope at Studio 11b and mastered at The Blasting Room (who have mastered the likes of Black Flag and Descendants), Where Did You Put My Marbles expands from the mature sensibilities found throughout their previous album, Mindless Consumption. Though fundamentally there is still that sardonic streak within the band’s work (old habits die hard), there is a more refined, almost Brel-esque nature to their sound.

It's just so easy for Martin Phillips, innit? Even after more than 30 years, he's writing the kind of effortless melodies that most songwriters would kill for. So this is just another perfect pop record to add to their discography. This will easily be a top 10 of the year.

Thanks Mark, love both records - couldn’t choose between them - the best of both worlds of the music you make. What would be equally as cool would be to see you dive into your New Zealand heritage on your next double record! Surely just as much history and music to be had there too. Cheers rse1985
