“Thinking man’s metal” and “smart rock” were terms used to describe the likes of Helmet, Melvins and Fugazi back in the nineties. It would appear that even back then, the kind of solid, groove-laden heavy music that Tauranga [pronounced Tao-rong-ah] three-piece HEMORDROID exude was hard to categorize.

Hopefully, that we’ve named checked the three influences Simon Fritchley (bass), Simon Lee McKenzie (drums) and Aaron Cutforth (guitar) nod to with regards to what hearts they wear on their sleeve, you get a semblance of what to expect from their debut EP, Blood Moon.

Blood Moon demonstrates their stylistic change – none more evident than their first single, “The Great Divide.” A throbbing, bass-heavy declaration of their new resolve, the intent with “The Great Divide” is to draw the listener into its groove and then drops them into a pool of filth and fuzz from a great height in one fluid motion.
